XOXO March Challenge

There was a delay in posting the March XOXO Lipstick Chicks challenge this month. The sponsor is Candy Shoppe Designs. For a chance to win a cool prize, lift one of the designs from the team. I used Sassafras Lass, Unity Stamp, Pink Paislee stamp, and upcycled denim.

Here is my layout for the month.

Another day of challenges

I am up and at it again. Actually I was woken up by Michael watching Ninja Assassin at 8am. Here's a lift from Shimelle.com's digital template challenge. I changed it up a bit by adding the tickets and giving the necessary shadows. I just might print this out and add embellishments. I had a paper kit from jessicasprague.com with no embellishments.

2nd layout of the day is stamping. I used the Tattered Angels stamp and screen. The stamp was so large without a block that I couldn't get a clear impression. That's ok. I'm good with it. Notice I am trying to convince myself.

And now a little more Sassafras Lass. I know I've mentioned the "infamous pile of unfinished layouts" before. This and the one came from the stack. It's getting smaller!  I really didn't know what to do with it so it turned out to be a simple quickie.

Weekend layouts

I did a few layouts on Saturday afternoon. The one above I used watercolors to paint the chipboard. Paper is Crate Paper.

This layout is K&Company. I diecut the big heart then pleated paper to go around the heart and stitched it onto the layout. The hearts at the edge of the photo are paper flowers which are cut into hearts using two petals.

And this one. . . I used old Sassafras Lass and Prima. Didn't pay attention to colors of the flowers since there is always a bunch of things going on with their papers. Looks way harder than it was. I was tempted to burn the paper vs. curling but with my luck I would have been homeless today. Yeah heat and I don't mesh.

We R Memory Keeper mini album

Like the sheet of Webster's Pages I had done a layout on yesterday, there say an unfinished mini album I had started. So last night I finally committed myself to complete this baby with photos and embellishments. I used various stickers (since the theme for my prompts was stickers).  There was a bit of Sassafras Lass with their cardstock blossoms with the button centers, old school Around the Block acrylic, We R Memory Keepers chipboard and cardstock, puffy stickers (the cherry blossoms), Sandy Lion, felt, glittered, paper lace, Heidi Grace, and epoxy stickers. i probably would have went overboard if I could have gotten my hand into the drawer to pull the stickers out. Gees I tell you for someone who isn't fond of stickers, I sure have a lot of them!

Webster's Pages layout

I found one Webster's Pages sheet next to my bed that probably has been there for about two years. It was wrinkled but that's ok. Maybe any other line I would have been tempted to toss it but I went with the flow since there aren't so many LSS that carry the line around here. Anyhow, I did this for my class at Shimelle.com. It's basically using stickers. I went with a less obvious sticker look. I used Sassafras Lass felties and Queen & Co. Oh and I made my own little screen and used a Glimmer Mist watercolor technique (all over the page but the masked image is right behind the photos). I put in Dew Drops to add dimension to the other flowers. I had to distress the felt with ink to match the feel.

I did this muslin mini a while ago but hadn't posted it. I'll probably teach the techniques and construction with the decorative stitching at Asobi Arts in San Francisco. My next class there is this Spring album. I think I'll do this some time in April after I get taxes done.

Let's use up the brad and eyelet stash!

I am taking the Something for Almost Nothing class which started yesterday at Shimelle.com in an attempt to use up that old stash that keeps getting buried underneath all the new stuff. So the prompt yesterday was to use metal in a layout. I think I do best when there's some sort of challenge issued to me (like at work) than to just pull something out of the air. 

For this I stitched on a piece of wide ribbon (should have been longer) but we all know I don't measure anything. Then I used one sheet of Sassafras Bungle Jungle and a scrap of K&Co.  from the Valentine's collection I had laying on my table from making those little mailboxes. Then from there I used brads from BoBunny and eyelets from Oriental Trading and Making Memories. The metal letters are from We R Memory Keepers and the little "chick" is Meri Meri accents.

As for the SEI challenge this month, so far I made a simple bracelet out of twill and an acrylic heart from Prima. The line from SEI is Doodle Girl and I used Zip Dry glue and the iron ons from SEI as well that belong to the same collection.

And now for giant cupcakes. . . my favorite gluten free HoHos with lots of butter! Secret to my taking over the world, is that I feed them one cupcake but it's actually the size of two! Bwhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha!

New Sassafras

I've had the new Sassafras Nerdy Bird for a few weeks now. I'm just getting around to scrapping in between making doll costumes and other random things. Here's a quick layout I just did because I was going through scrapping withdraws.

 I also used felt, flower clothes pins from Daiso and colored ball chain with alcohol ink. There's also Prism cardstock flowers. 

Not a vintage girl

I'm sure not a vintage style anything girl. But all of the sudden, I've had a craving for vintage papers. A few months ago I had won a Sassafras Lass pack from the company for the blinkie on my blog. I finally got around to pulling it out to create this layout.

I used two additional borders that come with the papers. That's one of the best parts about Sassafras in my opinion. Popped the one one top. Then I used some Fancy Pants to make the photo mat and I used the Making Memories tag maker for the other photos. Then I grabbed some flower brads and bling out of my stash. Some of the elements on the page I cut and placed over other elements like the little blue banner and insertion of the big title clip. I placed that over a portion of another sheet's edge. It all kind of looks like it had belonged on the background sheet to begin with. I added Stickles to each of the rays and around the large photo mat. This paper sure seemed like it was easy to mix and match things from other lines and companies, something I am horrible at. It's done and actually I'm quite happy with it.

A Journal of Interest

So I decided to try something different. . .a style unlike my own. I'm taking the ezine course from Teresa Mcfayden. Here's my attempt at an art journal. I am so not vintage but I have some vintage-esque type papers from Sassafras. Haha. We'll see how it goes. My mom gave me this hollowed out book cover when I was doing altered books. So finally it's come into use. I used the ribbon on the spine to hold the Bind it All portion together. Used Basic Grey book plate and a Prima flower. I am determined to use my stash one way or another. A girl needs new stuff you know!

Final day LOAD 28

Ok here's the last layout. The prompt was to finish something you hadn't. Gees I have a ton of that. I have about 15 layouts in a pile on the bookshelf waiting. So I chose one of Riley and Michael. I used Sassafras Lass and a Prima flower. And we always have to have BLING! I tell you I love the one pound bag at Joann's . . . especially when you have a 50% coupon. Oh and I think (it's been months) the rubons are Luxe Designs.

I took what?!?

I went to the dentist last week to get a crown on a tooth that had a small crack that was an accident waiting to happen (supposedly). So my appointment for the crown was going to be this Friday. Well it hurt me the entire time but I said nothing. This morning before I had to go to a doctor's appointment, my temporary fell out. First time that's ever happened. So it's been hurting ever since and I can't take Motrin right now. I've been in pain for about seven hours. I finally give in and there's no Tylenol around. What do I do? I took Children's Tylenol. I sure don't know why Riley resists sometimes taking it. If anything it's way too sweet but my pain is gone after about 15 minutes so I'm happy now.

I did a two layouts in addition to a clear house-shaped album. The pink layout started off being stamped in only the corners using Fancy Pants stamps and rubons with Daisy Bucket paper I had left over from a heart album I did a year ago. You'll get to see that because I'm going to print those pictures up and finish it. I stuck my inital background in the Pazzles and it really slipped. So that was either scrap or I had to make do. So here's my analysis of this layout. . . it reminds me of Daisy from Rock of Love on VH1 because you don't know what to focus on. Stamps = tattoos, buttons = fake boobs, and the rest her big collagen lips.

The Sassafras layout was using three lines of their papers. The picture totally was the wrong size and not landscape. I couldn't make it work. That's what I get for forming the layout before I downloaded the pictures.

The house album is from Clear Scrap. I found the pictures of our house being built in 2004 while cleaning and finished it all in under 2 hours while Riley napped.

So far so good!

I seem to be keeping up with my resolution of using up my supplies. I did a Fancy Pants layout, a Basic Grey mini album and a quick Sassafras Lass calendar for Riley's great grandma who lives in South Dakota. I made the base of the free standing calendar from book board. I bound it with book binding tape from Paper Source and instead of assembling like a book, I added an additional piece to the center as if adding a second spine.
