I completed the class in two days. . .

Guess now I'm sad because I've completed the self-paced, Illustrator 101 class at Jessica Sprague so quickly. Anyways, here's my latest layout and the template for download (again in PSD format). Enjoy!

Learning to use Illustrator

I'm taking the Illustrator 101 class @ Jessica Sprague. Who knew I would actually create a digital layout in the new year before a paper one. Our first assignment was navigating around the program and creating a card. I'm far from a card maker but here's a simple card. The restriction was that it needed to be 5x7 and simple. Assignment 2 was to create a layout template. I actually used a layout I did about 4 months ago. And part B of the assignment was to complete the layout. Here's the file download in .PSD (photoshop) format. Sorry I should have renamed the layers (and organized better while doing this at my inlaw's house) but you get the most important part.

Yeh my luck is turning around!

So you know I've had a recent bad streak. Guess you don't even know the worst of it but gees let me tell you it was bad. Anyhow, my birthday comes around and my husband buys me the new Canon 5D Mark II. I don't know if that is good for the single income family. Oh so let me add I accepted the part time job. Anyhow, the best part is that I won a free class at JessicaSprague.com. I'm totally excited because I've recently taken her Now We're Rockin' class and have gotten into digital scrapbooking. Now I just need to find a happy medium of both worlds.

I can't say I take horrible photos. But you know when you see images that the professionals output and you use similar equipment, it makes you feel like you're really doing something wrong. I learned that a lot of them (from going to the CK Creative Photo Retreat) do a ton of post photo editing. That's something I really did not expect to hear. You kind of realize it but you never expect to hear it.

Now thanks to Jessica, I am comfortable with PSE 7.0 and will really be rockin' with my photo editing skills. Oh yeah Jessica. . . can't wait for Digi: In Deep class. Plus look out world. . . I'm going to be taking a month long course with Nicole Hill, whom I also met at CPR (now if only I could remember where in San Francisco it is). Guess this is a great start to a new business I am planning to start as well. No not as a professional photographer or anything. You'll see. Too bad I have that part time job now. Hahaha. Thanks again Jessica!

Week 2-30 minute digital challenge

Finally, here's my week 2 30-minute digital challenge for the Jessica Sprague class. I spent most of the time changing hues of all the elements and paper. Oh I used the Sunny with a Chance kit from Sweet Shoppe Designs. I guess if I ever started with an idea for the layout I would be faster. I hate to plan these things.

Courtesy of the Jessica Sprague class. . . It's the Wednesday Challenge. Here's my layout. I totally changed the colors of the paper and ribbon flowers. Browns and oranges aren't my thing. Note: yellow and oranges (and some greens) clash with my skintone! Haha. I think the best part of digital is that I can change colors and only buy something once. It doesn't fill up my garbage either.

I did this between my three phone interviews. One guy asked if it was a good time. He was late (last week he stood me up) and in the way of me posting this. (Did I say I was getting feisty----errrrr with age?) He peeved me because he wants me to create an online marketing plan for his company specifically to see if I can interview. I said I don't do free consulting.

Ok time to do some scrapping with paper. I think I'm going crazy sitting here at the computer. I need paper!
